Delete your account

You can delete your BoardGameTally account yourself, at any time. Do it here, in the app under My settings, or on your group's site in the Settings tab of your profile. All three do the same thing, and none of them needs anything from us.

What is deleted

  • Your email address, name, photo, bio, play style, favourite games and when you can play.
  • Your Google sign-in and any Google Calendar connection.
  • Your sign-in codes and sessions, and the devices that get your notifications.
  • Your answers about the terms and about news and tips from us.
  • Photos and GIFs you sent in a group chat, invites you made, and any request to link you to a player.

What is kept

  • The games you played. They stay in each group's history under the name Former player, with nothing else about you, so everyone else's standings, seasons and ratings stay right. Nobody can claim that player or sign in as it.
  • Your group chat messages, under the same name, without their pictures.
  • A record of any donation you made, its amount and date only, with nothing left that ties it to you, and our payment provider's own records, which it keeps as the law requires. A name you gave for the patrons' roll of honour while signed in comes off it with your account. If you gave one while signed out, we cannot tell it was you, so write to us and we will take it down.
  • Copies in our backups, which are overwritten within 180 days.

Deleting cannot be undone. If you sign up again with the same email, you start a new account from nothing.

If you own a group

A group always needs an owner. If other people still play in a group you own, hand it to one of them first, with Make owner on the group's Members page, or delete the group in its Settings. If you are the only member left, you can delete the group together with your account below. Either way a deleted group is read-only for 30 days, when its owner can still restore it, and is then deleted for good.
